In fact, we almost always like pictures of our pets. And our friends also usually exclaim: "Oh, how cute". And it really is. They are cute, photogenic, natural, fun and beautiful. But nothing prevents us of remembering a few simple aesthetic rules in order to make the most of the potential of these excellent models. Which, moreover, are always available.
Here we discuss the circumstances of shooting domestic cats.
First, you should comply with the fact that most of them shoot indoor light - sometimes with lights on, and sometimes daylight coming through the window. I prefer it - is more intense, but also better dispersed, allowing to preserve natural color. I would not use flash, not least because of the strong reflections in the eyes of cats - sometimes look like regular light spots and lose full details of the iris and pupil. Still working on the inside and it is better to provide a sufficiently high speed to fix the movements of the animal. You may need to increase the sensitivity significantly. If your camera does not allow us to control the settings manually, we can use the automatic mode for sport - it gives priority to high-speed and will include without our desire flash, as would happen most frequently in shooting mode to portrait. Some cameras even have an option for pets - if it means increased speed, because our model exceed enormously, then fine.
A good choice is to take a picture of the cat's level of height parallel to the ground or even lower point. If it means leaning on the ground, so be it. Otherwise, we get another picture of a little something on a flat and large something else - carpet, flooring, carpet ... In very rare cases it is a good prospect. But it is most commonly used when it comes to mind to prikleknem and shoot down from a standing position. This would mean that we do not seek to engage in the world of the model. And it is so interesting to look at it from his point of view. If you are approaching and we want to get the background space above the cat instead under it, it is good to have a wide optics. This can distort facial features, but somehow the cats they go - funny emoticons close look good, at least for us - kittens can not express their discontent and perhaps it also helps.
More patience is needed if we want to capture the character of the animal. You should take the time to observe it as it moves freely in their tasks. I spent about an hour with Aurora's favorite friends and my model of necessity to show the world what the robber actually is. Even had to sacrifice part of his sandwich, non-interference, but I'm happy with the result - from this angle looks like minitigar on the kitchen counter. And how are predatory licks! Naturally, all respectable cats, it also exercises the expression "eating our onions, we smell," reserved for later.
Movements of cats are graceful, but agile. It is difficult to be captured at its peak, especially in low light. However, with a little persistence can get in rhythm, to study the amplitude of repetitive actions with few attempts to understand when to pull the trigger to get in the right time frame. For example, when paw or tongue are maximally stretched when the tail is extended and when a yawn is the widest. A Bulgarian artist loves to shoot cats in 'flight' and its results are spectacular, but this is really aerobatics. And there may be a stressful effect on "toys." And they are quite interesting in their natural light. It remains to debnem and seal them in the best way. Good Luck!
